FUNCTION KEY OPTIONS
REVIEW ALL STUDENTS IN THE CLASS <F1>
Review all students in the class, in columns, and optionally enter marks and gradings directly into the columns. If the column heading is in RED, then marks and gradings can be entered or edited in the column. The grading may be tailored to be automatic.
CLASS GRAPHS & STANDARD DEVIATIONS
This option gives a sub-menu from which to choose an on-screen graph
1. Graph Student EXAM MARK
2. Graph Student CLASS ASSESSMENTS
3. Graph ALL marks for Class
4. Graph Class MARKS DISTRIBUTION
Any of the sub-menu options will also automatically recalculate the class averages of students' marks (for the class currently displayed). Averages are seen in the columns of the 'Review All Students' option (<F1>).
GRAPH STUDENT EXAM MARK / CLASS ASSESSMENT MARK:
The graph of students' % marks shows the whole class in descending order of marks. The names of the students are shown in the legend beneath the graph.
Where the class size exceeds 16, the graph is shown in sections, starting with the top 16 students, then the final (or next) 16. The students at the bottom end of the top 16 graph may also be shown at the top end of the bottom 16 students.
GRAPH ALL MARKS FOR CLASS:
This is a single graph of all students, showing the two % marks in comparison. Any major discrepancies between the two % marks for any one student will be immediately obvious.
The order in which the marks appear will either be in class order (alphabetical) as seen in the 'Review All Students in Class' (<F1>) option, OR in order of the last viewed % mark graph. If the latter, marks will be descending, and the identity of any one student's bar in this graph can be determined from the legend in the last viewed graph.
CLASS MARKS DISTRIBUTION:
The distribution for each of the % marks is shown. The numbers of students gaining marks in each percentile band is graphed. The Standard Deviation for each % mark is shown. The Standard Deviation should be around 12-15 ... if not, marks may be scaled or adjusted. The graph of Class Marks Distribution helps to identify if the spread of marks is going wrong, or is approximately on course with normal distribution.
The basis of these comments is:
- The class has an average spread of students
- The Standard Deviation is approximately 12-15 for a normal distribution of marks.
